Options for Supported Housing

community homes

Since 2007, Environmental Works has partnered with Options for Supported Housing, formerly Foundation For the Challenged, in designing community-based living options for people with developmental disabilities (many of whom also have physical disabilities).  EW has collaborated on the design of more than 30 houses for OSH, in locations throughout western Washington including Centralia, Olympia, Puyallup, Longview, Kirkland, Shoreline, Marysville, and Everett.

Options for Supported Housing homes usually accommodate 3 or 4 residents in a single-family home.  Most are adaptive remodels of existing single-family residences, featuring voluntary accessibility, useful life, and green building improvements.  EW has also designed a new four-bedroom house and two duplexes for OSH.  EW works closely with OSH and residents’ care providers to ensure each home best suits the needs of its future residents.
