Affordable Senior Housing and Childcare in the Heart of Downtown
Laurel Forest Apartments & Early Learning Center | Bellingham, WA
The Laurel Forest project is a new mixed-use, four-story building on the edge of downtown Bellingham, designed to house 56-units of affordable senior housing and a 3-classroom Early Learning Center. The Opportunity Council identified these two programs as critically needed in their community and created this multi-generational facility to serve both groups. Outdoor spaces and common use areas are co-located to promote mixing of the seniors with the children. The steeply sloping site accommodates (28) parking spaces tucked into the hillside behind the housing entry and resident amenity spaces.
