Affordable Senior Housing in Tacoma’s Hilltop Community
Hope Heights | tacoma, WA
Hope Heights will provide 63 affordable apartments for adults 55 and older in Tacoma’s historically Black Hilltop neighborhood. Developed by HumanGood Affordable Housing and Beacon Development Group in partnership with Greater Christ Temple Church, the project will serve households earning 30% and 50% of the area median income.
The partnership brings together HumanGood’s experience developing affordable senior housing with Greater Christ Temple Church’s more than 60 years of service and lived experience on the adjacent site. Environmental Works worked with the project partners and church congregation to incorporate community feedback and help translate the church’s vision into a welcoming residential community for older adults.
The four-story building is designed to support independent living while providing many opportunities for residents to connect. Shared amenities include a community room, fitness room, computer room, library, coffee bar, outdoor patio, and roof deck. Offices for property management and supportive service staff will make assistance readily available within the building.
Located on a sloping corner site, the building takes advantage of broad eastern and southern views. The project also includes 23 surface parking spaces for residents and staff, accessed from the alley.
Construction is underway.
