Vine Maple Place
In response to increasing numbers of homeless families in Maple Valley, Vine Maple Place formed as a nonprofit dedicated to helping homeless families build lives of hope and stability. Environmental Works is helping Vine Maple Place build a new Family Resource Center to enable the provision of services to the growing numbers of families in need.
Vine Maple Place staff participated in a visioning exercise and hands-on design charrette for a new social service center serving homeless families in Maple Valley. Initial design ideas were developed in small groups and visual preferences for the interior and exterior of the building were reviewed and discussed.
The Family Resource Center will welcome families into a warm, supportive environment that offers financial literacy training, employment and livable-wage development, child care and advocacy, life skills development, and housing assistance. The facility design maximizes the use of the site in order to maximize the number of families that can be helped. Exposed structure and building systems, plus maximizing donated construction materials and labor, will minimize costs. Abundant natural light will create an uplifting environment that honors the value of every family and allows them to thrive.
