City of Richland Gateway Plan
In collaboration with the Department of Planning and Development, the consultant team developed a city-wide gateway plan, including conceptual designs for 18 entrance locations throughout Richland. A thorough inventory of all existing and potential sites, led to an overall framework and designation of primary, secondary, and minor entries. A design standard was developed to provide a sense of cohesion, while being responsive to a variety of urban, residential, arterial, park, and wild undeveloped settings. The design team worked with all agencies, including WSDOT, to ensure that art and signage installations follow current standards while celebrating the natural and cultural character of this riverfront city and surrounding wine country.
